Shame again! One-and-a-half-year-old girl 'raped' by uncle

Phulbani: In yet another shocking and shameful incident, a one-and-a-half-year old girl child was allegedly raped by her uncle in Kandhamal district.

As per the police complaint filed by the child’s mother, the accused took the girl while she was playing outside her home on Tuesday. When the accused did not return with the girl child by evening, her family members launched a frantic search and lodged a missing police complaint thereafter.

The family, meanwhile, suspected something wrong has happened when the accused returned the girl child to her parents this morning.

Sources said the child has been admitted to the paediatric ward of the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.

On the other hand, police have arrested the accused and initiated a probe into the incident.
