Puri: As per its previous announcement, Odisha Police today filed charge-sheet in connection with the alleged gang rape of a minor girl inside government quarters in Puri on December 2. Earlier, six persons including the prime accused, Jitendra Sethi, a former police constable, were arrested in connection with the incident.
According to reports, Jitendra allegedly offered lift to the minor girl from Nimapara area on December 2. Later, Jitendra along with three other persons took the girl to a government quarter near Jhadeswari Club where two of them allegedly gang raped her.
Official sources said a case under sections 363, 376 (DA) & 394 of IPC and Sec 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, (POCSO) has been registered in this connection.
“We have filed the charge-sheet on the 20th day and we will take necessary steps to ensure that there is speedy trial in the case,” said Puri SP, Uma Shankar Das.
Uma Shankar further stated that there are ample evidences against the accused and there is no need for police to move court for remand of the accused.
