Police launches probe after hushed-up cremation of woman, 5-year-old son

Jagatsinghpur: An incident which could be termed both shocking and bizarre, bodies of a woman and her 5-year-old son, who died yesterday, were cremated by her in-laws without the knowledge of anyone; following which police have lodged a suo motu case and started investigation.

The incident occurred in Sathalpur village under Naugaon police limits of Jagatsinghpur and upon getting information police registered a case and have interrogated the husband and father-in-law of the deceased woman.

However, no complaint has been filed by the family members of the deceased woman.

Meanwhile, police have reportedly found out that the deceased woman was mentally-challenged.

Moreover, rumours are doing rounds that the woman allegedly strangulated her son following which she committed suicide.
