Online Cricket Betting Racket Busted In Odisha, 5 Held

Rayagada: Five persons were arrested for running an online cricket betting racket in Rayagada on Saturday. Mostly college students and businessmen were clients of the betting racket that was being operated by one P.Ishwar who was arrested from Subhdrapur area, Police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at Laxminarayan street and managed to nab four persons from the spot. Cash worth Rs 1.37 lakh, six ATM cards, six mobile phones were recovered from their possession,

"After the raid, we found that the entire online cricket racket was operated by one P Ishwar. Later, we conducted a raid on his residence at Subhadrapur and seized Rs 2.5 lakh and mobile phone from his possession," said Nihar Ranjan Pradhan, a senior police official.

Pradhan further informed that all the monetary transfer and transactions were done through PhonePe and Google Pay, a digital wallet platform and online payment system.
