Odisha Youth Arrested For Cheating Girl On Pretext Of Marriage

Bhadrak: A youth was arrested on Saturday for allegedly betraying a girl after maintaining physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage.

Bhadrak Rural Police reportedly arrested one Pramod Lenka of Asura village under charges of section 420 of the IPC after the girl filed a written complaint against him.

As per the girl’s allegation, Lenka was in a relationship with her over last four years and had also assured to marry her. However, he often threatened her not to inform anyone about their affair and even warned to post videos and photos of their intimate moments on different social networking sites.

Speaking to media persons, the girl said that the accused asked her to leave her parents so that they would marry in a court on December 5. However, he kept her in his relative’s house and went absconding.

She also alleged that the relatives of youth are abusing her physically and mentally.

Later, he allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh and other valuables as dowry from the girl’s parents to marry her.

“Promising to marry her, he took away my daughter four days ago but he kept her in his relative’s house. Now he is demanding Rs 10 lakh and gold ornaments to marry her,” alleged the girl’s mother.
