Balasore: Police today recovered blood soaked body of a man from a house in Gudipada area of Balasore district. Later, a woman claiming to be his live-in partner, surrendered before Baripada Town Police after confessing to have executed the gruesome murder.

As per reports, the deceased Badha Marndi who had been working as a watchman at the Food Corporation Of India (FCI) was found lying in a pool of blood today morning by his neighbours who barged into his room after repeated knocks to open the door went unanswered.

Subsequently, the locals raised an alarm and immediately informed cops about the matter following which Sahadevkhunta Police and a forensic team reached the spot for investigation. Preliminary probe suggested that Badha was murdered as an axe, suspected to be the weapon used for murder, was recovered from the house.

The surrendered woman Sita Marndi has claimed that she was staying with Badha for past 12 years in a rented house in Balasore but he never married her following which there was an altercation between them for the past 4 days. Later, she took the extreme step.

"There was an altercation going on between us for the past few days. He had refused to marry after staying with me for such a long time. He also refused to pay for my expenses so I hacked him to death," said Sita.

Sources said Badha was staying with his wife and two children at Sirishbani village in Mayurbhanj.

Describing the horrific scene, Suresh Chandra Das, a retired Manager of FCI said, “The door was shut from outside and he(Badha) didn’t answer when we knocked the door. Suspecting something fishy, we barged into the room in the presence of former Councillor only to find him dead.”

Speaking about the incident, Balasore DSP(Crime) Manoj Rout said, "As per the preliminary probe, we have found that Sita murdered the victim as she was never accepted as wife. We have also found an axe used to execute the crime from the spot."

A police investigation is currently underway.
