Odisha Man Gets Death Penalty For Rape & Murder Of 3-Yr-Old Girl

Keonjhar: The Additional District Judge (ADJ) court on Thursday sentenced a man to death in connection with the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Keonjhar district in 2017.

Accused Sunil Nayak, who is claimed to be a relative of the girl, was pronounced the death sentence under POCSO Act, on the basis of the statements of 28 witnesses, said reports.

Reportedly on January 13, 2017, Nayak took the girl to a secluded place in Champua area of the district and raped her. Later, he killed her to conceal the crime.

Based on a complaint of the girl's family members, police initiated an investigation and arrested Nayak.

“As per report of the doctors, the girl died due to shock and hemorrhage by forceful penetration. After hearing the statements of 28 witnesses, the court awarded death sentence for Sunil Nayak,” informed public prosecutor.

On the other hand, Nayak told mediapersons that he is not guilty and will appeal in the higher court to review the judgement.
