Sambalpur: Police arrested a man for faking his own abduction to get money from his family for repayment of loan in Sambalpur.

Two more persons were arrested by Khetrajpur police in this connection and a car was seized from their possession.

According to reports, wife of one Adarsh Ghosh on Monday, filed a complaint that her husband had gone missing.
Later, on Wednesday,she received a phone call from an unknown number demanding Rs 5 lakh ransom.

Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and formed a special team to nab the kidnappers. During the investigation, the location of the unknown number was tracked and the accused were nabbed on Bargarh-Sambalpur Road on Thursday.

"I had borrowed Rs 8 lakh from several persons and used the money for betting during IPL matches. The money lenders had been threatening to kill me if I failed to repay their money. Finding no other way, I faked my own abduction," said Adarsh.

"During the investigation, we found that three persons, including Adarsh were involved in the case. One of them called Adarsh’s family and demanded ransom claiming that he was abducted," informed Bhanai Shankar Udgata, Sambalpur SDPO.

A case has been registered against them and all the accused have been forwarded to court.
