Nayagarh: In a major breakthrough, the Fategarh Police in Nayagarh district busted a robbery gang and arrested four members of the group on Saturday.

Police also recovered stolen valuables including cash and ornaments and two motorcycles bearing registration numbers OD-25-B-1512 and OD-25-H-1172 from their possession.

According to sources, Birabar Behera of Ragaripada village lodged a complaint with Fategarh Police that some unidentified miscreants had decamped Rs 1.8 lakhs and jewellery from his house on May 30.

Based on the complaint, police launched a probe into the incident and arrested four persons Sankarshan Padiari and Jitendra Rout of Karabar village and Laxidhar Jena and Prasant Baliasrsingh of Manipur village in this connection.

“The criminals have been interrogated to ascertain the involvement of other persons in the gang. Their criminal records are being inspected and we are trying to see if they are also involved in other crimes,” said a police official.
