Khurda: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted a cigarette-laden truck at gunpoint near Ugratara chhak under Tangi Police limits in Khurda district late last night.

As per reports, the truck was en-route to Kolkata from Hyderabad when a group of armed miscreants waylaid the vehicle and brandished gun at the driver. They later tied the hands and legs of the driver and threw him in Ugratara forest before fleeing the spot with the vehicle.

Some locals rescued the driver in the morning following which an FIR was lodged at the local police station, added reports.

Subsequently, police initiated an investigation and recovered the empty truck from Kuhudi near Kainthapalli road in the district.

Further investigation into the incident is underway and the miscreants will be nabbed soon, said a police official.
