Jajpur: In a major breakthrough, Jajpur District Police arrested four members of an inter-state gang on Sunday while they were planning to loot a jewellery shop at Singhapur under Binjharpur Police limits of the district.

Apart from the four miscreants, another man who was buying the stolen ornaments from them, was also arrested, informed Jajpur SP Charan Singh Mina.

Cops reportedly seized a country-made gun, two knives, two screwdrivers, five mobile phones, two bikes (bearing registration number OD-21-3016 and OD-34B-9802) from their possession. Besides, several stolen gold and silver ornaments were also recovered from them.

"The district police successfully arrested members of a dacoit gang. A man who used to buy stolen ornaments from them has also been arrested. During interrogation, the accused confessed their involvement in several robberies in Jajpur and Kendrapara districts," Mina said.

"Efforts are on to nab other members of the gang," added the SP.
