However, after filling petrol in the bike, one of the youths brandished a gun on the employee and the trio later fled the spot. The other persons present at the spot also scampered to safety after seeing the gun in the miscreant’s hand.

Narrating the incident, an eyewitness said, “I had come to fill petrol that night when I saw three bike-borne youths hurling abuses while the employee was filling the petrol. Later, when he (employee) asked to pay the money, one of the youths brandished a gun and all other present at the petrol pump fled the spot to save their lives.”

Sunil Paikray, an employee at the petrol pump who was also present at the spot said, “We were doing overtime that day as the next day was a holiday for Holi. At around 8.30 PM, the three youths came on a bike while speeding through the filling station. Some employees at the station asked them to stop when they started quarrelling and barged into the manager’s office. As the manager was not present, we somehow managed to calm them down and offered petrol. Later, when we asked them money, one of the youth took out the gun and all of them later fled the spot.”

Informed, Airfield Police Station officials rushed to the spot after getting information and started investigation in connection with the incident.

“The IIC had come to the spot after getting information assured me to arrest the miscreants at the earliest. Patrolling in the area should be tightened,” informed owner of the petrol pump, Anil Paikray.
