Minor girl 'raped' for 3 months in Kandhamal

Kandhamal: Instances of sexual abuse of minor girls have been surfacing at an alarming rate in Odisha as yet again a minor girl was allegedly abducted and raped for three months in Daringbadi area of Kandhamal district. The accused, reportedly married and father of a child, has been identified as Ishak Pradhan a native of Pangaraha village under Daringbadi tehsil.

The matter came to fore after the family members of the minor lodged a complaint with Daringbadi Police. Based on the complaint, police launched a manhunt and arrested the accused in connection with the incident.

According to sources, the accused abducted the minor girl while she was returning from college in November 2018. The accused has kept the girl hidden in an isolated place in Baliguda area of the district and allegedly raped her for three months, informed sources.

Police have rescued the girl and forwarded the accused to court.
