Minor Girl Offered Lift, Raped In Odisha

Balasore: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of offering her lift to her house in Balasore on Friday.

According to reports, the girl had gone to Telangana along with one of her relatives to work in a company. After staying there for some days, she boarded a train back home in Odisha. She reached Balasore railway station on Friday and was waiting to board a bus to her village when the accused, identified as Sanjit Jena of Gambharia village, approached her and assured her to drop her home on his motorcycle.

But, Jena instead of dropping her home allegedly drove her to an isolated area along the national highway and raped her. After committing the crime, the accused decamped with her mobile phone and cash.

Later, the minor girl reached Rupsa police station and lodged a complaint in this regard, based on which police examined the CCTV footage of an ATM counter where the accused had withdrawn cash while driving the girl. Subsequently, Jena was nabbed by police.
