Rourkela: Odisha seems to be turning into a land most vulnerable for minor girls and women as even after several measures taken by both the State government and the police department, rape incidents continue to rattle the State almost every other day.

Adding to the shame, a minor girl was allegedly gang raped by three youths in Rourkela on Sunday.

Though the incident took place on September 22, it came to the fore only after the rape survivor along with her family members lodged an FIR at the Sector- 7 Police Station last evening.

Based on the complaint, police have reportedly detained three youths today. The statement of the minor girl and the three youths will be recorded today, informed police sources.

As per the complaint, the minor girl was on her way to a temple to offer prayers on Pua Juintia in the evening of September 22, when the three youths forcibly took her to a secluded place and subsequently gang raped her.

Fearing it would bring shame to her and her family, the minor girl did not appraise the incident to anyone. However, she was in immense mental stress since then and hence, revealed the matter to her family members yesterday.
