Minor girl abducted, gang raped in Berhampur

Berhampur: Instances of sexual violence against women and girl children continues unabated in Odisha as yet again a minor girl was allegedly abducted and gang raped by three youths near Golanthara area in Berhampur of Ganjam district. Though the incident happened on December 15 (Saturday), the matter came to fore after the family members lodged a complaint with the Golantara police on Sunday.

Based on the complaint, police launched a manhunt and arrested the three accused in connection with the incident.

As per her family's allegations, the incident occurred when the girl was going to her neighbour's house to call her mother. However, three youths abducted her and gang raped her after taking her to a secluded place, the complaint mentioned.

Police sources informed that an investigation has been initiated while the girl along with the three accused were taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for a medical examination.
