Bargarh: A heated verbal duel turned fatal for a man after he was allegedly killed while buying country liquor near Sohela Bazar in Bargarh. The incident reportedly occurred during the Ravan Podi Utsav near Sohela Bazar area Tuesday night.

According to sources, the deceased Sanjib Pradhan of Sareipali area had an argument with four persons- Pradeep Taria, Dactor Bhoi, Khirod Bhoi and Bidyadhar Bhoi (all residents of Bidapali area of Bijepur) while buying country-liquor pouches from a make-shift shop. The argument soon took a violent turn as the latter allegedly hacked Pradhan with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage, killing him on the spot.

During the clash, all four of them also sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Bargarh hospital for treatment. As Bidyadhar Bhoi's condition worsened, he was referred to Burla hospital, while other three were discharged from the hospital after a preliminary treatment.

Till last reports were filed, police have detained 10 persons in this connection for interrogation.
