Man kills wife, threatens others from atop a tree

Kalahandi: In a bizarre incident, a man created a flutter by climbing atop a tree soon after killing his wife at Kuriguma village under Jayapatna Police limits in the district on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Agasti Majhi.
As per reports, Agasti hacked his wife Bela Majhi to death with the help of an axe. The deceased was staying with her parents for the last two years.
Sources said the Agasti had visited his in-laws' place in the morning. On finding Bela alone in the house, Agasti picked up a quarrel and later attacked her with the axe.
Later, Agasti climbed atop a tree at College chhak and started threatening local residents to kill them.

On getting information, police reached the spot and only after a long negotiation, they managed to nab the accused.
