Man hacked to death by two miscreants in Puri

Puri: A man was hacked to death by two miscreants near Sidi Chhak under Chandanpur police limits in Puri district late Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sarat Sahu, who was a welder by profession.

According to reports, Sarat was attacked with sharp weapons while returning home yesterday night following which he received grievous injuries.

Even though Sarat was rescued by locals and rushed to the Puri Sadar Hospital in a critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, sources said.

A few days back, Sarat had done welding work of a bike when an argument broke out between him and the owner of the two-wheeler over payment which is being suspected to be the reason behind the attack.

Following the death of Sarat, tension erupted at the hospital after relatives and friends of the victim demanded immediate arrest of the persons involved in the incident.

A police investigation is currently underway.
