Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police intensified probe after body of a man was found hanging on the premises of ISKCON temple in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Babu Sahu (50) of Shergarh in Ganjam district.

According to reports, Sahu used to work as a sanitary staff at the temple. On November 18, he had gone to his village and returned to the temple yesterday. Today morning his body was recovered from a toilet complex inside the temple. Some staff of the temple spotted Sahu’s body and alerted police.

Though it is still unclear whether he committed suicide or was killed, Nayapalli police and a forensic team visited the spot and launched a probe into the matter. A case of unnatural death has been registered.

While the police await the post-mortem report to ascertain the actual cause behind the death, the ISKCON authorities sought a thorough probe into the matter.

“He was on leave since November 18 without any application. Today morning we spotted his body lying hanging in the toilet and informed the police. The matter need to be probed,” said ISKCON public relations officer Radhakanta Das.

"He was working here. I do not know whether he had gone to home or not. He had visited our house three to four months back," said Saraswati Sahu, one of the relatives of the deceased.
