Man beaten to death for refusing sister's marriage proposal in Bolangir

Bolangir: A man was beaten to death after he rejected a marriage proposal for his sister at Ankariapada village under Puintala Police limits in the district on Sunday.

According to sources, the deceased Gobardhan Giri, a native of Kutrapali village had come to his in-laws' house at Ankariapada where he was brutally attacked by one Nanu Sanyasi and his associate Agnu Sanyasi with wooden sticks.

Later, locals admitted Gobardhan in a critical condition to District Headquarters Hospital(DHH), where he succumbed to his injuries.

After the incident, Puintala Police detained Nanu and Agnu and launched a probe into the matter.

"From primary investigation we got to know that Nanu wanted to marry Gobardhan's sister as the former was having one-sided love affair. However, Gobardhan refused to accept Nanu's proposal and married off his sister with someone else. Out of anger, Nanu killed Gobardhan," said Investing Officer Sangram Patnaik.
