Man axes father-in-law to death in Boudh

Boudh: A man allegedly axed his father-in-law to death over some trivial matters at Tikirasahi in Sarsara village of the district today. The deceased has been identified as Gundu Barik.

As per reports, the accused Pankaj Sethi was staying at his in-laws' house since the last 15 years. Gundu and Pankaj had gone to the farmland this morning to shift the harvested paddy to a safer place in view of the possible rain forecast.

Sources said the duo reportedly entered into an altercation following which Pankaj attacked Gundu with an axe leading to his death.

Locals nabbed Pankaj while he was trying to flee the spot and later handed him over to police.

"He (Pankaj) was mentally unstable. Despite this everything was good between them. We don't know the reason why he killed my husband" said Sravani Barik, wife of deceased Gundu.

"We have sent the body for post-mortem and detained the accused. Further investigation into the incident is on" said Prashant Kumar Mallick, investigating officer of Boudh Police station.
