Man axed to death in Ganjam, one arrested

Berhampur: A man was axed to death over suspected past rivalry at Khairapalli village under Kabisuryanagar police limits in Ganjam district on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Suriya Nahak.

According to sources, four youths including Suriya had gone to a place on Friday night and while returning there was a scuffle between them over some issues.

The situation took an ugly turn after the three youths attacked Suriya with an axe resulting in his death on the spot, added sources.

On getting information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body. One of the accused has been arrested while the other two youths are still absconding.

“They carried an axe with them as there is threat of bears in the region. They asked the auto driver who had accompanied them to leave the spot and later one of the accused axed Suriya to death following an argument over some issues ,”Purushottampur SDPO Ashwini Sahu said.
