Man arrested for ‘murdering’ wife over dowry in Bolangir

Bolangir: Police have arrested a man from Kansaripada area under Bolangir Town Police limits of the district for allegedly murdering his wife over dowry.

The accused, Biman Gajendra, was arrested after family members of the deceased, Puspanjali Parida, lodged a complaint.

As per reports, Puspanjali was found hanging in her house in a critical condition on Friday. Later, her in-laws rushed her to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital where she breathed her last while undergoing treatment.

Suspecting foul play, family members of Puspanjali registered a complaint alleging that she was murdered over dowry.

“Puspanjali was found hanging in her house and rushed to the nearby hospital where she died. A dowry case has been registered. The husband of the deceased has been arrested by the police and forwarded to court. Further probe into the matter is currently underway,” said Sreemanta Barik, Bolangir SDPO.
