Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested a self-styled ‘Lady Don’ in a slum cluster in the Airfield area for allegedly attacking a police party.

The 45-year-old woman, identified as Aasma Bibi allegedly tried to manhandle policemen who went to rescue two men who she had punished by tying them up on allegation of stealing goats.

The shocking incident was reported from Abhiram slum in the capital city which falls under the jurisdiction of the Airfield police station.

As per reports, Bibi, who lorded over the slum cluster would hold Kangaroo courts to settle disputes in the area and even punish people while acting as the judge and the jury.

On Monday morning, she tied up two persons and mercilessly beat them up as punishment for allegedly stealing goats. When informed, a police team arrived at the spot in a PCR van.

In a video which has gone viral, Bibi was seen keen on punishing the two tied-up me even as the policemen requested her to allow them to take them to the police station.

Bibi who was furious at the policemen for interference, could be seen shouting at them and hurling abuses. She insisted on meting out punishment to the duo right at the spot and not in the police station.

She then tried to manhandle the police personnel when the two men were taken into the van.
Sources said Bibi was subsequently put under arrest for taking law into her hands by assaulting people and manhandling policemen.
