Junagarh Gang Rape: 9 Accused Including Minor Arrested

Bhawanipatna: In a major breakthrough in connection with the alleged gang rape of a girl inside Jaring forest in Kalahandi district, Junagarh Police today arrested nine persons including a minor involved in the incident, informed Kalahandi Superintendent of Police B Gangadhar.

While six accused were arrested on charges of raping the girl, others have been arrested for circulating a video of the incident. The investigating team found that the detained bus driver who had given lift to the survivor had no role in the incident, the Kalahandi SP added.

The incident had taken place in the afternoon of September 14 near Junagarh, 25 km away from Bhawanipatna, when the miscreants gang raped the girl and later uploaded video of the act on social media.

After a complaint was lodged on September 15, a team of cops along with a forensic team did spot verification and subsequently identified all the accused.
