Jajpur youth attacks woman, hacks self over unrequited love

Jajpur: A youth allegedly stabbed a woman and later hacked himself over unrequited love at Bandhasahi village in Jajpur district today. The accused has been identified as Ganeshwar Sahu.

The critically injured woman was initially rushed to Dharmasala hospital and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where she is undergoing treatment.

According to sources, Ganeswar had invited the woman to a nearby temple and then allegedly stabbed her with sharp weapon. He also hacked himself with the same weapon.

Following the incident, the woman's family lodged a complaint at Dharmasala Police Station. Sources said, Ganeswar had fallen in love with a woman of the same village which had also led to feuds between the two families.
