Illegal firearm manufacturing unit busted in Nayagarh
Nayagarh: A country-made pistol manufacturing unit was busted in Gopinathpur area of Nayagarh district today following which police have arrested one person.
According to sources, the Nayagarh Police received a tip-off about manufacturing of country-made firearms at a factory located in Gopinathpur area. Following the lead, police raided the factory and recovered pistol-making equipment and seized five country-made guns from the unit.
Police arrested one person who has been identified as Sudhir Behera. The arrested person has reportedly confessed to have been manufacturing pistols in the unit for the past one year, sources added.
Nayagarh SP, Sashi Bhusan Satpathy said “In total, we have seized four single barrel guns, one country-made pistol, equipment and explosives including gun-powder in the raid at the factory. We have registered a case in this connection at Town Police Station and the arrested accused will be produced before the court.”
