Illegal arms manufacturing unit busted in Kandhamal

Kandhamal: Police today busted an illegal firearm manufacturing factory under (Raikiya) police limits in Kandhamal district and arrested a person in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid on the arms manufacturing factory and later raided the house of one Munibar Mallick from Rusiguda village in Kitingiya panchayat.

Following the raid, the cops seized two country-made pistols along with gun-making materials from Mallick’s house.

Police sources claimed that Munibar has been involved in illegal manufacture of country-made pistols since last few years.

“One person was arrested following a raid. We have launched a probe to find out if there is involvement of any other person in the illegal business of gun manufacturing,” said a police official.
