Bhubaneswar: The officials of Air Intelligence of Customs today thwarted another gold smuggling bid at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.

Nearly 612.85 grams of gold worth Rs 22 lakh was seized from two Chennai-based passengers, who arrived at the airport from Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia flight today.

Official sources said gold worth Rs 30 lakhs has been seized from the international airport in two days.
As per reports, the passengers were trying to smuggle the gold in paste form. They had concealed gold in seven capsule shaped pack covered externally with black tape and inside with white gelatine plastic.

Both the passengers have been detained while further investigation in this connection is on, officials said.
