Girl thrashed by miscreants in broad daylight

Bhubaneswar: Miscreants today thrashed a girl in full public glare in Banki area of Cuttack.

Sources said four persons of Botalama village in Banki area identified as Dama Dehury, Ramachandra Dehury, Chakradhar Dehury and Benudhar Dehury chased the girl and attacked her with digging bar and sticks today afternoon.

The girl who sustained critical injuries after the attack was initially rushed to Banki Hospital and later shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Later the family members of the girl lodged a complaint at the local police station. The matter came to fore after a video of the entire incident went viral.

“The four accused have been threatening our family and also tried to abduct me over some past issues. Today they spotted me outside the house and all of a sudden attacked me. Earlier, we had lodged a complaint with the police regarding threat from these miscreants. Despite that the anti-socials continued to harass us,” the girl said.

Inspector-In-Charge of the Banki PS Biswaranjan Sahu said the attack was fallout of dispute between both the families. Stringent action will be taken against the accused and case will be lodged on the basis of today’s attack. We are looking into all aspects of the matter,” said Sahu.
