Foreign national robbed of valuables in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: With the Men's hockey World Cup days away, incidents of foreign nationals being attacked do not send a good signal to those fans who plan a visit to the city to witness one of the biggest sporting events. A Norwegian woman on Saturday lodged a complaint with the police of being robbed of a laptop, the price of which she claimed to be more than Rs 4 lakh, and other valuables by unidentified miscreants in broad daylight in Khandagiri area here.

As per the complaint lodged at the Khandagiri Police Station, the incident took place while she was travelling in an auto-rickshaw towards Khandagiri area.

Sources said she is a citizen of Norway and has been doing internship at a private university here.

Based on the complaint, Khandagiri police registered a case and has begun an investigation into the case.

Sources further said police will examine the CCTV footage in the area and interrogate the auto-rickshaw driver as part of the probe.
