Sundergarh: A six-member team led by Sundergarh CDMO on Tuesday conducted a raid at a private clinic and seized various medical equipments in Biramitrapur area of the district. Later, the local police arrested a woman for impersonating as a doctor and running the clinic.

According to reports, the woman having no medical credentials was running a clinic at Purunapani area in Nuagon block and had been prescribing medicines to patients for some time. She was also conducting various diagnostic tests including ultrasound tests.

However, she left the place and shifted to Biramitrapur after the locals of Nuagon area raised doubts on her practice. Soon after shifting to Biramitrapur, the woman with the help of a chemist shop owner opened a clinic and started practice again.

Later, some locals suspected her to be a fake doctor and filed a complaint against her with the CDMO, following which raids were conducted.

"She had asked me for a room to run a clinic. Yesterday, I came to know that she is not a doctor," said Arbind Keshari, the owner of the chemist shop.

"She had been running clinics in various parts of the area and prescribing medicines to patients. I thank those who nabbed her and urge the administration to nab all the fake doctors," Biramitrapur MLA Shankar Oram said.

The CDMO assured strict action against the woman and said, "We have sealed her clinic and an investigation is underway and action will be taken accordingly."
