Ex-Sarpanch killed in attack by miscreants

Sambalpur: A former village head was killed in an attack by at least five miscreants over suspected past enmity here on Monday, sending shockwaves in the region.

According to sources, ex-Sarpanch of Saleveta panchayat, Parsuram Pradhan was attacked with sharp weapons by a group of as many as four to five persons near Talasaburi under Nakatideul police limits in the district.

Grievously injured, Parsuram was initially rushed to Nakatideul medical and later referred to Burla hospital as his health condition worsened. However, he was declared dead at the hospital.

The attack was a fall out of rivalry between Parsuram and few others over RTI complaints, informed sources.

"The investigation is on and we are looking at all possible angles. We hope to nab the assailants soon,” said a police official.
