Double Encounter In Kendrapara, 2 Criminals Nabbed

Kendrapara: Two dreaded criminals were nabbed following an encounter by a team of Marsaghai Police and special squad on Friday night. The criminals- Anant Prasad Jena alias Bhelu and Prabhat Nayak alias Mituna were prime accused in the brutal murder of a medicine store owner, Gagan Sahoo on September 18, 2019.

The 25-year-old businessman was shot dead near Hatia village under Marshaghai police limits over suspected business rivalry.

As per police sources, 11 miscreants were involved in Sahoo’s murder. Both the prime accused, Bhelu and Mituna had been absconding following the incident and were nabbed after the encounter yesterday, while nine other accused were earlier arrested in different phases.

Acting on a tip-off that both Bhelu and Mituna were trying to escape, a trap was laid by the police team. On sensing trouble, Bhelu opened fire at the police team.

However, Bhelu sustained bullet injuries on both his legs while his associate Mituna sustained bullet injury on one leg after the police team retaliated.

Both Bhelu and Mituna have been admitted to Kendrapara district headquarters hospital. Senior police officials informed that over 10 cases are pending against both the accused at different police stations while further investion in this connection is on.
