Mayurbhanj: Days after a divyang girl was allegedly abducted and raped in Udala area of Mayurbhanj, police on Sunday arrested a youth in connection with the case.

Based on the complaint lodged by the rape survivor’s mother on Saturday evening, Sarat Police immediately swung into action and arrested the youth identified as Surat Singh Badara of Dhapada village.

On July 31, Badara kidnapped the 26-year-old differently abled girl while she was sleeping alone in her house and later took her to the nearby forest, some 200 metres away from her house and raped her, informed Udala Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Swapnaranjan Mahapatra.

When the girl’s mother could not find her in the house, she started searching for her. Later, the girl was rescued in a critical condition from the forest.

“After receiving the complaint from the girl’s mother on Saturday, police had initiated an investigation and arrested Badara from his village,” added Mahapatra.
