Criminal Wanted In 15 Cases Nabbed After Police Encounter In Odisha

Rourkela: In a major success for the district police, notorious criminal Sunil Majhi who is wanted in as many as 15 different criminal cases has been nabbed after an encounter near Siudi in Lathikata area.

According to sources, the district police mobilized a special team to catch Sunil after receiving an input about his presence in the outskirts of the steel city late last night. The team faced off with the criminal near Siudi area where a brief exchange of fire took place.

As Sunil initiated firing, cops retaliated and managed to nab him after shooting on his leg. Injured Sunil was admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital and later shifted to VIMSAR Hospital in Burla.

Cops have seized a pistol from Sunil's possession and informed that further investigation is being conducted to elicit more information about his crime syndicate.

Police sources said that as many as 15 different cases of robbery, murder and other criminal activities are pending against the criminal.
