Criminal Tapan Nayak succumbs to stab injuries

Cuttack: A criminal Tapan Nayak, who was critically injured after being allegedly stabbed with a knife by another criminal at Matia Mangala Sahi here on Sunday, today succumbed to the injuries at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Family members of Tapan alleged that he has been murdered by a criminal named Happy Mohanty over a dispute relating to fishing in Jobra Barrage. They claimed that Happy barged into their house and attacked Tapan with a sharp weapon on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Malgodown Police have started investigation. "Our efforts are on to trace Happy Mohanty," informed a police official.

Several cases are pending against both Tapan and Happy at different police stations of the Silver City. Besides, the duo had a longstanding enmity, said sources.
