Cuttack: Three personnel of Tangi Police Station were arrested for allegedly robbing a businessman of Rs 1.5 lakh at Nirgundi toll gate during a regular vehicle checking on Wednesday night.
As per reports, a havildar and two constables posing as Special Branch members of Commissionerate Police had stopped the businessman's four-wheeler for checking. Finding Rs 1.5 lakh cash with him, they allegedly took the amount forcibly from the businessman.
When the victim went to the police station to lodge a complaint, he identified an official as one of the policemen who took the money from him. Subsequently, in the fear of losing their jobs, the other accused cops returned the cash at the police station.
After the matter came to light, Tangi Police lodged a complaint and following the direction of the Rural Superintendent of Police, the accused officials were arrested.
