Berhampur: A cook accused of stealing more than 1 kg gold and Rs 10 lakh cash from Berhampur was arrested by Odisha Police in Rajasthan today.

The accused has been identified as Shravan who was working for a gold trader Jitendra Singh in Patra Sahi area under Bada Bazaar police limits of Ganjam district.

According to sources, the accused had stolen 1.1 kg gold and Rs 10 lakh from Singh. However, only 514 gram gold and cash worth Rs 8.5 lakh have been seized from the possession of the accused.

Berhampur Superintendent of Police, Pinak Mishra said "After the complaint was filed we launched an investigation and managed to arrest the accused. We have recovered some of the stolen cash and jewellery. An investigation is underway to find out involvement of others in the case."
