Class VI girl student 'raped' by classmate found pregnant

Mayurbhanj: In another shocking incident, a Class VI girl student of an ashram school under Morada block in Mayurbhanj district has allegedly been raped by her classmate, who also happens to be a minor.

The matter came to fore after the minor girl was found pregnant when she was admitted to Baripada medical college and hospital today.

As per sources, based on a complaint lodged by the headmistress of the school on February 5, police registered a case and arrested the boy on charges of raping and impregnating her.

“After registering the case, we arrested a juvenile and sent him for medical examination. Further investigation is underway,” informed Inspector-in-Charge of Morada police station Yogendra Kumar Mallick.

As per reports, the Class VI girl student on Monday complained of frequent vomiting and ill health following which she was admitted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College & Hospital in Baripada.

During treatment, the doctors found the girl was four months pregnant after which the school authorities lodged an FIR at the police station.

The minor girl is reportedly undergoing treatment at the hospital.
