Bhubaneswar: At a time when multiple incidents of crimes were reported in Bhubaneswar recently, another case of chain snatching incident has been reported from Mancheswar area, raising serious security concern.

According to reports, three bike-borne miscreants attempted to snatch a gold chain from one Manorama Ojha, when the lady and her son Subrat were travelling in an auto-rickshaw at around 11.30 AM near Bomikhal Canal Road.
However, after Subrat caught hold of one of the miscreants, two of them fell off the bike. Soon, some passersby rushed to the spot, nabbed the duo and thrashed them before handing them over to the police.

"I jumped off the auto rickshaw and nabbed one of the miscreants, when they were trying to escape after snatching a gold chain from my mother. Hearing my screams, some passersby rushed to the spot and we managed to nab two of them, who managed to flee from the spot," said, Subrat, the victim's son.

Even though police have nabbed as many as 14 criminals recently, local residents don’t feel safe.

"Police carried out five encounters recently in Bhubaneswar, but we still feel unsafe in the city," said Amulya, a local resident.

On July 30, some armed miscreants had allegedly attacked a hotel owner and robbed him of his cash in Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar.

In another incident, five armed miscreants had allegedly attacked the owner of a car showroom near Puri bypass road and snatched a gold chain from him. Though the victim managed to save his life by hiding himself in the office, he sustained injuries during attack.

Two customers had also sustained grievous injuries during the loot bid as the anti-socials decamped with Rs 2 lakh.
