Caught stealing red-handed, thief thrashed in Angul

Angul: A thief was mercilessly beaten up after locals caught him red-handed while stealing at Dhipasahi-Tasara area under Jarapada police limits in Angul district on Saturday night.

As per reports, the accused had managed to barge into the Dhipasahi-Tasara Primary School at around 10 pm yesterday. Locals caught the thief while he was trying to escape after stealing articles from the school.

Villagers then tied the youth to a tree and thrashed him. On being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued him.

A couple of theft cases are pending against the accused who is now being interrogated, police sources added.
