Kendrapara: Palpable tension prevails in Kendrapara after a young businessman was shot at by miscreants on Saturday. The injured businessman, Bibekananda Moharana is now undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Protesting the attack on Moharana, who is the president of Tinimuhani bazar committee, other traders blocked Cuttack-Chandbali road at Tinimuhani and Gulnagar chhak today.

As per reports, four bike-borne miscreants intercepted and fired at Moharana while he was returning home at around 8:30 PM yesterday. Moharana was first rushed to Kendrapara district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCB after his condition deteriorated.

It is suspected that the firing was the fallout of some past rivalry while further investigation in this connection is on, police said.

"The businessman was shot at yesterday and he is now undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His condition is now stable," said Kendrapara SP Niti Sekhar.
Sekhar further informed that a case has been registered while a probe in connection with the incident is underway.

"We have deployed adequate police force in the region to maintain law and order. We hope to nab the miscreants at the earliest," Sekhar added.
