Brown sugar worth Rs 3 lakh seized in Balasore

Balasore: In a crackdown on illegal trade of drugs, the District Excise department officials today seized 30 grams brown sugar from a house at Kadraya village in Basta town of Balasore district and arrested a man in connection with the case.

According to sources, the seized brown sugar is estimated to be around Rs 3 lakh.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigation to find out how the accused managed to obtain the contraband item and to which places it would have found its way.

Sources said frequent cases of ganja and brown sugar trading have been reported in this area earlier and involvement of an organised racket cannot be ruled out.
