Bhubaneswar: Continuing its crackdown on the illegal trade of drugs, Excise department sleuths today arrested a youth in Bhubaneswar for supplying and buying narcotics and seized brown sugar worth over Rs 10 lakh from his possession.

Acting on a tip off, Excise sleuths conducted raids at Haladipadia which has become a safe haven for drug peddlers, and arrested SanjeevLal, a resident of Bihar. Officials also seized brown sugar weighing 100 gms which is valued at around Rs 10 lakh from him.

During the course of interrogation, Excise officials have found that Lal used to buy narcotics at Rs 100 a packet from suppliers based in Jaleswar of Balasore district and sell them at Rs 350 per packet.

What is more shocking is that Lal used to employ small kids with fee of Rs 5000 per month for selling the contraband item.
