Cuttack: There seems to be a noticeable spurt in crime in silver city Cuttack. After three brutal murders within a span of 24 hours, a bombing incident was reported near Puja Mandap in Khan Nagar area of the city today.

As per reports, two miscreants on a bike hurled a crude bomb at a sweets shop and fled the spot. Nobody was injured in the attack.

After getting information about the incident, Badambadi Police reached the spot and launched an investigation. The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.

Owner of the sweet shop Rabindra Nath Sahu said, "When the bomb went off, I thought it was an electric bulb which burst, but later realised that it was an attack. I don't know why the bomb was hurled."

"I saw two people on a bike, who came to the area and one of them who had covered his face, hurled a bomb. Before I could reach near them, they immediately fled and they were also carrying more bombs," an eyewitness, Pratap Kumar Sahoo, said.
