Puri: Close on the heels of the gang rape of a minor girl by a dismissed constable and his associate, a woman on Thursday accused another Odisha Police official of raping her. The accused, identified as Chitaranjan Das, is posted as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) at Balanga Police Station in Puri district.

In her complaint lodged with the Pipili SDPO, the survivor alleged that she had approached Balanga Police to seek justice in connection with a family dispute. However, the accused ASI allegedly took her to his quarters on the pretext of resolving the matter and raped her, the complainant said.

Earlier in December last year, a former constable was arrested for his involvement in the gang rape of a minor girl.

The accused constable Jitendra Sethi had allegedly offered lift to the minor girl from Nimapara area in a car.

Later, he along with three other persons took the girl to his government quarters near Jhadeswari Club where she was allegedly gang raped.

Carrying out investigation in the case, six persons including the prime accused, Jitendra Sethi were arrested in connection with the incident. Puri Police later had filed a charge-sheet within 20 days of the incident.
