Another minor girl raped, impregnated in Kandhamal

Kandhamal: Close on the heels of the incident of a class-VIII girl delivering a baby at a residential school in Kandhamal, another minor girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by a youth on the pretext of marriage under G. Udayagiri police limits in Kandhamal district.

The matter came to light after a complaint was filed at the G.Udayagiri police station today.

The accused identified as Riku Nayak was arrested by the police and has been forwarded to court, added sources.

On the other hand, SDPO of G. Udayagiri Jaykrushna Behera informed that the minor girl has been sent to the District Headquarters Hospital in Phulbani for medical examination.

Police have launched a probe into the incident.

Earlier today, the infant delivered by the class-VIII girl at a residential school in Kandhamal died at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur today.
