Bolangir: At least six persons were arrested by Bolangir Town Police on Saturday on charges of murdering a mason from West Bengal on March 4.

As per reports, the deceased mason Bani Sheik was staying with his five other colleagues and uncle Hyder Ali at a rented house at Sarobarpada area. All of them hails from Murshidabad area in West Bengal.

Hyder Ali had reportedly brought all the persons and engaged them in various house construction activities in Bolangir.

On March 4, the six accused had allegedly attacked Bani with a spade after picking up an argument.

Bolangir SDPO Srimant Barik said that the deceased mason always used to torture other workers in a drunken state.

“There was a dispute between the workers and later, they attacked Bani with the help of a spade and disposed of his body in a drain,” said Barik.

Barik further said that all the six accused had dumped Bani’s body by throwing it from the terrace.

“All the accused have been arrested and produced before the court today,” Barik added.
